CHAPTER 23–ENDING
Kang HyeJin is sitting. The plane is about to take off, her thoughts wanders on the past happenings. Everything seems to be a blur. It seemed so fast. And now, she’s about to go back top where it all started. Go back to the place she was born and she’ll die.
Happily, right? Knowing that the person she loves, loved her too is enough. Right?
HyeJin is too greedy. That’s what she thinks. In three days, she’ll lose everything. She’s going back to the doctor in 2 days, a need to die peacefully, right?
All her thoughts were halted when a man in black sat beside her. The plane is already up in the sky so why is the man changing seats? She didn’t mind though, not until the man’s hand had suddenly pulled hers and intertwined it.
‘Is this man a pervert? What in the world’s name is he doing holding my hand?’ HyeJin thought, trying to pull her hand away from his grasp it only ended with a thud on the seat. His grip tightened.
Then the man pulled out a DS from his bag and started playing, in one hand only. HyeJin thought it was a talent on how the man seemed to know everything about the game. Maybe, this man could beat Nino.
Ah, then she mentally smacked her head for thinking about him, again. She just sat still, trying hard not to think about Nino or the man beside her.
Then the light darkened, almost as if its night. And then suddenly this man, the one sitting beside her, pulled her into a one arm hug, the other one still gripping hers.
“Ah, sir? Please let me go?” she said, trying to push him. This was too much. Is the man drunk? “Sir? Sir? Please?” The man’s hug was not actually perverted. It was sweet and almost loving.
“HyeJin. Ninomiya HyeJin.” The man whispered in her ears when realization hit her.
“Ninomiya-san! What are you doing here?” She whispered frantically. This was not on her plan. Her plan was to leave every memory of Nino in Japan. And here is Nino, hugging her.
“HyeJin, I wanted to ask you… Is what you wrote in the letter…true?” Nino asked.
HyeJin gulped. “Which one?”
“The one bout you, loving me?’ He was still hugging her, holding her so close that he could already hear the beating of her heart.
“Why…are you asking me this?” HyeJin muttered.
“I’ve read it…I told you I love you. Aren’t you going to return me the favor?” Nino asked, his usual smirk in place. He was back to being the Nino Prankster.
He was back to being the Nino that HyeJin had fallen in love. The Nino that is sure of everything he does. The Confident Nino.
“What if i did? What if I told you its true? What are you going to do?” HyeJin asked, holding him close now.
Nino smiled, “Well…shouldn’t that be a surprise, right?”
HyeJin laughed. She had never laughed in front of Nino, not about something he said. “Ninomiy–”
“Nino. Call me Nino. Or Kazu. Kazu is better.” Nino cut off, grinning like an idiot.
“Kazu, you may not get it…but I’m dying. I’m dying. Do you know what that means?” Even though she was smiling, her voice was broken. She obviously didn’t want to be reminded.
“I know. You think I didn’t grasp that? I heard you already. But I’m here right? I wasted enough time. Too much of my time. I had two months and I had wasted it all instead of being good to you.” Nino smiled, “So? How about that?”
“I…I love you, Ninomiya Kazunari…” Her voice cracked as she said those words.
Nino’s eyes was full of love, that’s for sure. “And I love you too. No girl would ever replace you in my heart.” Touching her cheek he also added, “Not even the girls in my games, they’re so skinny.”
HyeJin laughed again. It should have been like this right? From the very start?
Nino let go of her but still kept holding her hand as they talked animatedly in the seat, not minding the stewardess that asked them if they wanted anything.
They had lost to catch up and so little time to do so. And HyeJin knew, that in her last days in this worl, she’ll be happy. And for some obvious fact, it will be because of this man that is sitting beside her.
“HyeJin? I’ve always wondered…” Nino suddenly asked after their chat about Aiba liking Sho.
“Hm? What’s that?” HyeJin asked.
“Why is that…HyeSung-kun…is your first love?” There, he said it, his worst fear ecer since he heard about him.
HyeJin laughed, obviously amused. “HyeSung oppa is not in the picture okay, Kazu? Always remember that. But anyway, HyeSung oppa is the first one to call ‘stupid’ when I was a child.”
“Huh? How did you end up liking him because of that?” Nino asked, bewildered.
“Because~ everyone kept calling me perfect. I’m good at everything, just like you, and so everyone admired me. I was sick of that, and HyeSung oppa, was the first one to call me stupid, the first one not be awed by my talents. See? And then there’s you.” HyeJin stared in his eyes.
“Oh. Yeah, I remember. Even Matsujun knows you.” Nino snickered, “The Perfect Girl from Korea, that’s what they call you huh?”
“Yes.” HyeJin’s last answer as he snuggled close to Nino and fell asleep.
–
“Ah. Welcome back HyeJin!” Her mom hugged her and when she saw Nino, she was mildly surprised. “Ah, and this must be…Ninomiya-san?”
“Yes, Ninomiya Kazunari-desu. Hi mother.” He smirked as HyeJin smiled and HyeJin’s mother is obviosuly pleased.
“Well, do you want to sleep on the guest room or share with HyeJin?” HyeJin’s mom was teasing.
“Haha. Of course he’ll sleep in the gue–” HyeJin was supposed to answer but was cut off once again by Nino.
“In HyeJin’s room please. I’ll carry our luggage there.” Nino said, as he carried their bags and waited for HyeJin to lead the way.
When they reached her bedroom, HyeJin opened the door and let Nino have a full view of her addiction to him.
“WOAH.” Was all he could say.
HyeJin’s room was full of pictures of him.
“Its not too obvious I’m addicted to you, huh?” HyeJin smiled when Nino suddenly pulled her for a hug.
“I’ll always be with you, till the very end of everyhting.” Nino whispered.
–
2 MORE DAYS
“HyeJin! Kazunari! Shinhwa’s here! And breakfast is ready too!” HyeJin’s mom called, “Ppalli! Or DongWan will eat all of it!”
HyeJin stood up to go the bathroom when Nino pulled her back to the bed.
“What? Eomma told us to go down.” HyeJin tried to explain looking straight into Nino’s eyes that is half drowsy.
“I love you.” Nino mumbled before going to sleep again.
–
1 DAY MORE
“We’re going to the hospital now. HyeJin? Nino?” MinWoo called from downstairs.
HyeJin, who felt happy even though she knew it’ll be the end in a few hours screamed, “COMING! Kazun, lets hurry.” She was about to open the door when Nino pulled her in a hug and whispered.
“HyeJin, I love you.” And then they went downstairs.
–
THE DAY
“HyeJin…I love you…” Nino kept repeating while the girl he loves sleeps in the bed, probably forever. “I love you..”
It was HyeJin’s mom who pulled him away from the corpse as its supposed to be brought down to the morgue.
“Kazunari. Thank you for everything.” She told him, “What are we going to use as her name in the Death Certificate?”
Nino wiped his eyes, he promised HyeJin he won’t cry so that she won’t be sad. “Ninomiya HyeJin please. She is, whatever happens, is my wife.”
And that’s what they used.
On the sea where HyeJin loved to go when she was a child, Nino had poured out HyeJin’s ashes in the water. While everyone tried to help not to cry…Nino didn’t.
Instead, the naughty Nino he is, he hid some of the ashes.
Is it a sin to fall in love?
