”I love you, Ryu-chan. Do you feel the same way?”
It haunted him like hell. Every day, every time, every moment he closes his eyes, even for just a millisecond, he could hear those haunted words and he’ll shiver. It was disturbing for him how those few words could haunt him down, he was scared.
So he decided to talk to someone, anyone actually, but he decided on Yamada since Yamada’s the closest one to Chinen now.
“Yama-chan…did you notice some difference with Chinen?” He decided to play safe, of course.
Yamada who was wiping sweat off of his face stopped for a moment as he scanned his memory. “Nothing really, Chinen’s still Chinen. He plays pranks, bully people, be cute, seat on our laps, play with everyone, study hard, and obsess over Arashi and Ohno-kun…nothing really, why?”
Ryutaro felt sad all of a sudden because he knew there was something that changed but he didn’t want to admit it because that would be crossing the line of admiration, so he just kept quiet and waited for all the members of JUMP to enter the room.
When they did, he watched as Chinen jump to Yamada’s lap with a, “Ryo-su-ke~”
“Na Chinen, Ryutaro here just asked me if something was wrong with you, is there?” Darn he should have known that Yamada’s too open-minded.
But he wanted an answer so he looked at Chinen’s eyes, and when he did, he saw hurt flash for a split second before the smallest masked it with laughter.
Chinen then started laughing, “What do you mean Ryu-chan? What’s wrong with me? You’re too tired; maybe you should just take a rest.” And then he jumped off of Yamada’s lap, pat Ryutaro’s head and then walk out of the room.
Ryutaro whose head was still tingling from the soft touch of Chinen’s hand was too shy with the growing blush so he decided to leave the room too. He walked out and ran towards the emergency exit when he suddenly heard sobbing from the abandoned room near their dressing room. Concern then washed over him as he decided to intrude.
And he was surprised at what he saw. Chinen was curled up like a ball in the farthest corner of the room and was red like a tomato from all the crying.
Ryutaro felt his chest tighten and he walked towards the little boy who just continued on crying, not minding the other’s presence. He decided to seat beside him and then he handed his handkerchief.
“Here.”
But Chinen just glared at him, “Why are you giving me that?”
“To help you, of course.”
“I don’t need help from the person who is responsible for what I’m going through.” Chinen continued on crying as he waited for Ryutaro to process what he said.
“W-What…did I do?” Ryutaro asked, not knowing why.
“I guess you really are a child, Ryu-chan.” Chinen said, not insulting, but only stating the truth.
“Hey! I’m not a kid anymore!” The other protested.
“I love you, Ryu-chan. Do you feel the same way?” Chinen repeated.
Ryutaro tensed as he heard those haunted words come directly from the very person. He stood up and started walking to the door when Chinen spoke up.
“Running away again, Ryu-chan? That’s why you’re such a child, you run away from everything not once but twice and I’m sure it’ll continue on and on until you die!” Chine screamed.
Ryutaro got fed up from being called a child, “Okay, fine, I’m running away! I’m still a child because I’m confused as hell! I don’t know what to tell you because I don’t know what I feel!” Ryutaro was crying now too. “I’ve been bothered and haunted by those words for weeks since you first spoke them! Can’t you see how worried I am?!”
“I can’t.”
“What?!” Ryutaro asked, frustrated.
“I can’t see how worried you are because you never opened up to me, Ryu-chan.” Chine spoke softly again. “And I can’t do anything about it; it’s your life after all. Don’t mind me, Ryu-chan, just continue on what you have been doing before I confessed…”
Ryutaro was silent for a second before he opened up, “I…I admire you, Chinen. I admire how beautiful your eyes would twinkle, how you can make my heart beat faster than normal with your presence, how talented you are, how you took over Japan, how you twinkled and become a star that was so beautiful…I don’t know what to call those feelings, so I called it admiration, because I always wanted to be by your side, because I always wanted your attention on me, and because…I always wanted you.”
And then Chinen laughed, “Ryu-chan, that’s not admiration…”
“Then what do you call it?”
Chinen walked over to him, letting him have all the power to move away. He closed the distance between their lips and kissed him so softly that the other could have pulled away so easily. The kiss continued with neither of them pulling apart, and Ryutaro even kissing back. And when the time to breathe finally came, it was Chinen who pulled away.
“See? It’s not admiration, Ryu-chan.” Chinen smiled, “Because I gave you all the power to move and run away, but you didn’t because you wanted it too.”
Ryutaro pouted, “I don’t it’s just that…that…”
“That you admired the feeling of me close to you? That you admired my lips on top of yours? That youadmired my attention on you? That you admired the feeling of me only belonging to you? No, right? It’s because that’s not what you call admiration.” Chinen explained.
“Then what do you call it?”
“You loved the feeling of me close to you. You loved my lips on top of yours. You loved my attention on you.You loved the feeling of me only belonging to you.”
“I…I love you?”
“BINGO!” Chinen clapped, “And now that we cleared that out, go and buy me a drink, I’m thirsty from all the crying and screaming and talking and explaining.” Chinen suddenly turned to the playful kid he was that it surprised Ryutaro.
“W-What?”
Chinen glared playfully at Ryutaro, “Please? I’m thirsty!”
“B-But—“
“Please, Ryu-ch~an?”
Ryutaro didn’t know what made him agree to go and buy a drink for Chinen or if Chinen was right and that he really did love the older boy, but he’ll have to agree that he really did like the kiss and…Chinen calling him Ryu-ch~an in that sweet voice that’s only reserved for him.
Maybe he was still a kid, but he’ll grow up soon and he’s sure he’ll be able to reply properly to Chinen’s feelings that time.
